Webb Kennels offers quality training, for any breed of dog, for nearly any circumstance. Our highly-qualified, very knowledgeable, certified staff takes great pride in the training we provide. Each certified trainer/handler strives diligently to develop the dogs per the customer's request and/or needs. And if your dog ever needs a refresher course, send him/her back to us and we will work with him/her at no extra charge.
Founded upon service to our clients and the love of the German Shepherd breed, we select and breed only the best matched pedigrees from Czech and DDR lines to sell to our clients. Our German shepherds, in addition to their strong and protective nature, exhibit excellent prey drive, courage, intelligence and ability to work and yet also are a loving family companion. We strive to make our dogs the best dogs possible in whatever trial or situation they may face. Some German Shepherds are great for police work, some for personal protection, and others for sport work. We determine the type of training each dog needs and ultimately receives by careful evaluation of the dog's personality, strengths, and weaknesses. Based on their performance, we place them into the proper program that best fits their skill level. We guarantee our dogs against any genetic defects and strive to pair each client with the right dog, matching both the client’s and the dog’s needs. In doing so, we ensure that they excel as police, military, family companion, personal protection or executive protection dogs.
Our training consists of puppy training, on and off-leash obedience, police training, narcotics detection/tracking, area search, poaching problems, personal protection training, executive protection training, sport training (such as Schutzhund and PSA). We also offer titling for your dog. All of our training is done with real life situations in mind. We will work with you and the dog to make sure you get the results you want and make sure you receive the knowledge of how to maintain your dog’s training.
Our German shepherds are family-raised and at Webb Kennels we put our heart and soul into them from the day they are born. Our dogs get the best training and care possible. Every dog has a chance to come out of the kennel every day, just to play and get the love and attention they deserve.
As an added service, our facility also offers contract work for businesses, schools, homes, or Law Enforcement departments that includes: demonstration, detection, and tracking. Our personal dogs are well-socialized and have adjusted to many public situations when asked to perform requested tasks or simply raise awareness. We take great pride in this added service, keeping public safety as our highest priority.
Webb Kennels also offers a fully-equipped kennel for your family's companion. Our friendly, trustworthy staff strives to make your pet's stay a happy, healthy experience. A Brief History of German Shepherds
German Shepherds were originally bred to be working dogs; bred for strength, loyalty and intelligence. The first organization known as the Phylax Society was founded in 1891 with the intention of creating standardized breeding programs in Germany, however, the group was disbanded only three years later due to conflict within. Some members believed that the breeding should be for work purposes only while others contrived that appearance should be included in selection. One of the former members of the Phylax Society, Max Von Stephanitz, believed that selective breeding could not only produce a working dog but that through careful control genetic defects could be eliminated. Defects such as color-paling, hip dysplasia, monorchidism, poor temperament, missing teeth as well as bent ears, which on average do not become apparent until adulthood, could be avoided. Stephanitz is known for allegedly discovering
“the first” German Shepherd in 1899 while attending a dog show. He was so captivated that he purchased the dog immediately, naming him Horand Von Schwaben and added him to the breed registry. Horand was selectively bred with other former members of the Phylax Society and with Stephanitz’s uncompromising leadership and beliefs, he is credited as being the creator of the German Shepherd Dog.
Though German Shepherds are known as the world’s third most intelligent dog, behind the border collie and poodle, its combination of strength, loyalty, and intelligence are unmatched by any other breed. Thus the breed is popular among law enforcement and military branches as well as a preferred choice for personal protection. Through the years the German Shepherd has strayed from Stephanitz’s original ideas and the animal’s appearance has been compromised. They are considered to be very active and often described in breed standards as self-assured. With a willingness to learn and eagerness to have purpose, coupled with its loyalty and size, the German Shepherd has become one of the most popular breeds in the world.
German Shepherds are very loyal animals. Once you are accepted by them, you have a friend for life. These dogs are very intelligent, and learn very quickly. You will never need to reteach a concept once it is fully grasped. They are very obedient and follow commands easily. They are very intuitive and respond instinctively to their owners’ moods. In short, a German Shepherd is a great companion and worker and here at Webb Kennels we help your dog and your families reach the maximum potential through breeding and through training.
